CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITIES
A charitable gift annuity is a contract with ASHRAE Foundation in exchange for which you make a gift and receive fixed, guaranteed payments for life. Such a gift can be made make payments to you or other beneficiaries you designate. The annuity can be payable to up to two beneficiaries and the size of the annuity payment is based on the age of the donor or other beneficiaries. The minimum gift for a charitable gift annuity is $10,000 and all payment beneficiaries must be age 60 or older.
Charitable gift annuities are issued through ASHRAE Foundation and backed by all of the Foundation’s assets.
A gift annuity provides the following benefits:
- A steady stream of income you can’t outlive
- The assurance that payments are not subject to market risk or fluctuation
- An immediate income tax charitable deduction
- Potentially significant tax-free income
- Reduction of capital gains tax if funded with appreciated property
