'The ASHRAE Promise: A Sustainable Future' Theme of Townsend's Presidential Address

QUEBEC CITY, QC, Canada—2006-07 ASHRAE President Terry E. Townsend, P.E., told members In his presidential address that "We are the pioneers in the reawakening of our Society. We are on duty, and we are responsible for achieving a sustainable future." Townsend cited the research strategic plan and the sustainability roadmap as documents that will guide the Society's efforts to provide global leadership in sustainability.

ASHRAE Joins Former President Clinton in Climate Initiative

LOS ANGELES—ASHRAE is joining former U.S. President Bill Clinton in an initiative to reduce carbon emissions and increase efficiency in the world’s largest cities. The Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) is a Clinton Foundation program dedicated to fight against climate change. The initiative was launched at an Aug. 1 news conference in Los Angeles, where Clinton was joined by the mayors of London, Los Angeles and San Francisco. British Prime Minister Tony Blair also attended to show support for the initiative. ASHRAE President Terry Townsend, P.E., also was present.
